Notify my Next Of Kin, This Wheel Shall Explode
11.30.05 - 11:36 p.m.
Impromptu snow-driven party tonight, funniest sight being the inner tube dragged by a truck with 7 people belly-sliding. Also the worst idea, ever. I mean when the truck went by and it was just two people, it was a bad idea, but with seven... it was like watching the idiot parade.
Best thing about today: asking my boss if it's ok if I don't work during dead week or finals week, and having her say "of course!" because I love that they know I'm a student. AND they don't resent me for it. I think every other job I've had there has been a bit of resentment for me being a student... at JCP they outright told me that work had to come first (and I said no, school, then my family, then my friends, THEN work) and then at the hospital it was never outright stated but definitely implied, and now here it is just smooth and everyone is down with it.
SO, thanks to my mom for suggesting the sabbatical and also for making sure I stay sane.
I was going to go take pictures of the snow tonight, but instead I got involved in a snowball fight that was merciless. I witnessed the mother of snowball fights, including balconies and slingshots, which was mostly hilarious. No one was hurt, everyone was happy.
After work tonight, my car was all "FEED ME" and I was all "OKAY ALREADY" so we headed towards Council Bluffs, the Land of Cheap(er) Gas, and I was planning on visiting my customary BP station on 16th except that at around 30th and Broadway, the light turned to yellow and I was going 25 and so stopping without sliding was not in the cards, I swung to the right 30 degrees and then I let up on the brakes and I swung to the left 60 degrees and then I turned the wheel (to try and regain control, but apparently..) and then I swung to the left so that I was in the middle turn lane facing the opposite direction from which I started. BUT I had stopped. So, at that point, I waited for the cars that were turning to go and then I signalled and rejoined traffic, heading West instead of East. I decided to just go to the Dinosaur (what is that station called? Maybe it starts with an S?) on 35th and Broadway. Getting back to the dorm was seriously a harrowing experience, I felt like I could be running the Iditarod and I cursed not having sensible shoes in the car. At least I didn't get stuck anywhere, I made it back to the dorm and got a little bit done before deciding to play in the snow.
I'm going to work on homework now for hopefully an hour and then go to bed so that I can be well rested/productive to the MAX for tomorrow and its busy-ness.
